About The Artist
Virginia-based artist Natalya Belenkaya explores the complexity of emotions and positive mindset through her art . She enjoys experimenting with various media, tools, and styles. Whether working with the vibrant colors and abstract forms of acrylic painting or her distinctive charcoal drawings, Natalya invites viewers to look into their subconscious minds and connect with her artistic vision.
Natalya earned her BFA in Communication Arts and Design from Virginia Commonwealth University. Her work has been exhibited at Art Works Gallery, the Sara D. November Gallery, and she recently held her second solo art exhibition in Richmond, VA.
“I draw inspiration from the beauty of life and the power of a positive mindset, channeling these elements into my art. Emotions cannot be seen or touched, so I present them to my viewers in visual form.
I work with multiple mediums to push my creative boundaries. I love charcoal for its organic quality and its ability to create striking contrasts between light and dark. Though messy, its forgiving imperfections make my work unique—just like life itself. Life is meant to be complex, messy, and undeniably beautiful.
On the other hand, acrylic and mixed media offer a canvas for unrestrained expression that charcoal cannot match. I use symbolism to express my ideas, allowing my intuition to dictate what goes onto the canvas at a given moment. Three-dimensional layering tells compelling stories.
Regardless of the media I use, my goal is to inspire those around me.”
